Today was the 30th annual Dia de los Muertos festival in Oakland’s Fruitvale district, and I’ve attended almost all of them. It is the most scent-rich environment - copal & beer & pineapple & carne asada & sage & frying onions & bacon hot dogs & tequila & marijuana & Palo santo. ❤️💀💐💀❤️

I’ve lately been having moments of profound gratitude towards useful objects. Thank you, Uni Jetstream! It’s such a small feeling of accomplishment to completely use up a pen insert, and a pleasing feeling to refill a pen instead of trashing or losing it. ❤️

Came to Boston for work & a coworker recommended the Harvard Museum of Natural History because of my excitement about Mineral Cup. No tugtupite (& I confounded the wonderful old codger volunteer when I asked), but they had a couple lovely kyanite specimens and a great overall collection.

Wallpaper has seen a bit of a renaissance, but I - in my 40s - have spent very little time in wallpapered spaces. I imagine the suffering Mr. Day & his contemporaries growing up besieged by ill-considered chintz and toile, sympathizing with the madness induced by the (fictional?) yellow wallpaper.

It’s irksome that I don’t know enough about grammar technicalities to describe the specific ways this writing feels old, but I am fascinated.

Just voted for kyanite because it helps us understand the temperatures when mountains were created and is used in porcelain and also it’s an old favorite. And as of that moment, there were equal votes for each! This is going to be another tougb round!
