I made this and it was fun

Our schools left to fend for themselves, nonexistent public transportation, crumbling infrastructure.

Seeing the disparity in writing where they don’t even try to *pretend* to give a fuck about poor people or Appalachians just adds a layer that causes my stomach to burn with rage.

After watching the state literally divest from and sacrifice the West for my entire life, this is just par for the course. Our region has been strategically abandoned since the beginning of the 20th century (&earlier).

Today, the North Carolina State Legislature essentially said “yeah, fuck those rednecks out in WNC.”

Never surprising, eternally disappointing. After all, I came of age when the NCGA was dismantling abortion access through “motorcycle safety” legislation back in the day.

Another productive day in Hot Springs. We liberated this roof from the silt after many long hours, and added it to a pile of debris we collected along with hundreds of tires we removed from the mud. So much work left to be done.
I’m tired. We’re all tired. Endless work to be done.

In today’s edition of surviving hell: local children getting nosebleeds and upper respiratory problems from a debris collection site literally next to their house. I have been sent to the County Manager, Environmental Services, NO ONE seems to have copies of the permit for this dumping site. 🤔🤔🤔
