also they're evoking feelings and thoughts and ideas because the entire film is working to produce something to say rather than cutting random scenes together and filling a frame with inconsequential objects that look pretty but say nothing . sorry i keep taking every chance to hate on it

agree w this idea but think you;ve used the wrong example of what s*ltburn (worst movie ive ever seen in my entire life) was attempting to mimic aesthetically - it was very much a riff on ripley, secret history, brideshead but yes interesting !! hadn't thought abt the parasite mimicry
