All our members at Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth I College want for Christmas is pay justice! While teachers in primary and secondary schools got a 5.5% rise, members in non-academised sixth form colleges have had no pay offer this year.

That must change. #PayUp24

An amazing day of action with @neunion.bsky.social Sixth Form teachers demanding fair pay. Chilly picket lines in Leicester, protesting in London and a lot of energy and comradeship in between. The fight continues on Tuesday.

It’s strike day! On my way to picket on Regent Road in Leicester with other @neunion.bsky.social members. If you agree with us that teachers in non-academy sixth form colleges deserve the same pay award as the rest of the sector, please support us.
We will be banging on the DFE ‘s door later.

It was Brian Lara for me. He become front page news scoring his 365 in a test match. When he came to Leicestershire with Warwickshire shortly after I was desperate to go. Made the faux pas as an 11 year old of getting his autograph on his way back in to the pavilion after being dismissed 🤦‍♂️
Evening all!

Which cricketer made you fall in love with the game?

I only got into cricket at 30, so it was Jimmy for me - I’ll never forget seeing his 300th wicket.

I have since developed an appreciation of past legends like Grace, Jardine, Larwood, Gower and Stewart.

Who was it for you?

What a fascinating read. There must be more players in our history who have obscure stories given the loose nature of amateurism in those days.
FREDERICK STANLEY JACKSON

These profiles are normally tied to anniversaries, but with this mysterious @LeicesterTigers and Lions international his birth date is unknown. In fact, there are multiple question marks over this man’s entire identity.

I think someone broke Man City.

We could talk about going to see City today but actually, let’s talk about the ham and tomato cob I had in the Blue Boar afterwards. The undisputed highlight of my day.

I can’t know for sure, but the @leicestertigers.bsky.social live feed looks like Bondi’s enjoying himself.

Easy to say in hindsight but the whole Captain Tom Moore thing absolutely stank of grift from a very early point.

And yet we can’t find £5m to give non academised sixth form college teachers an equitable pay award.
🚨 @mrp-ict.bsky.social reveals the shocking £31m wasted on "pointless" Government tests in primary schools every year.
You'll be amazed when you find out what else that money could buy for schools! 👀🤯

Any members of the unspoken, unofficial wise folk of Market Harborough society made their way over here?

If any #neu activists have moved over here, please lend your support to non-academy sixth form teachers who will be striking later this month having been denied the 5.5% pay award.

This is all beginning to look a bit more familiar the more I find people. This bodes well. I just want an echo chamber to shout in to about things I like that isn’t owned by a pound shop Bond villain.
