14th December 1542 King James V of Scots died at Falkland Palace, Fife, Scotland of the wounds he gained at the Battle of Solway Moss two weeks earlier. He was succeeded by his 8 day old dtr, Mary Queen of Scots.

Francis raised and led Mary to the seat of state under the canopy. He held the crown over her head as it was too heavy for her. High Mass was sung and Mary made her offering before receiving the Holy Sacrament. Mary then left the Cathedral for the Royal Apartments where King Louis joined her.

One year ago today mum passed away aged 96. It's her anniversary. Here she is with my dad on their Silver Wedding and Ruby Wedding. Please pray for her soul, Doreen Maria McMahon 1928 to 2024 and my dad, Peter John McMahon 1927 to 2012. ❤️🙏

Chief mourner and both she and her father, King Henry 8th were bereft. Henry would be buried at her side in February 1547, a few weeks after his own death on 28th January 1547. He was succeeded by the son Jane had given her life for.
