I worry that the focus on NOAA's weather predicting value is ignoring the millions of other ways NOAA researchers enrich communities and local economies.

I came of age during the “W” era. I know people who fought in a war that had no purpose. They came back changed. I saw the housing market crash. I gleefully voted for Obama when I was 19. I hoped for change and saw a glimpse of it. Now I have a daughter and I wish I could do more as a citizen.
