I do think the bulk of Republican seats in North Carolina belong at Likely R in 2026, with maybe a 2-5% chance they lose enough as to make a nonpartisan map better for them. Otherwise though, things are not vulnerable to this.

Tbh I would not view the court map as all that great regarding handling of COI, and would make considerable changes to the map if fully up to me. It would still be a 5-2 R map, but the Dem seats would reorient, and the weaker of the two would be safer under my redraw.

Please understand that you would face a near guaranteed loss if you ran for Governor while a Senate run would be close to a coin flip when deciding which race to run in.

The current SCOTUS, being composed of far-right hacks, would probably come up with a way to say that proportional representation in state legislatures is unconstitutional.
