I'm treasurer for my county library foundation. You can support a group like that or you can give directly to The Dollywood Foundation for the Imagination Library or to Reach Out and Read. Both are literacy programs.

You folks are giving me flashbacks to being stationed in Europe on three tours for over ten years. There were a number of occasions husband and/or I were deeply embarrassed to be Americans because of what some fellow Americans were doing.

I realized part of this is to combat Russian interference in their elections. Russia was successful in the UK, France, and the US.

This is why I will continue to support Reach Out and Read and the Imagination Library even as we restrict our spending in other ways. We are preparing for what the GOP will do to us, but strong reading skills are too important to not support.

Very true. There is a community called Boyds in Stevens County WA. AI merged it with some guy back in Maryland and claimed it had a high school.

#4 Reading the descriptions, I'm often trying to remember Sam Wineburg's lessons in "Historical Thinking and Other Unnatural Acts: Charting the Future of Teaching the Past (Critical Perspectives On The Past)"  Refs to savages, barbarians, and Catholics, trigger a reaction that I have to overcome.

#3 The Missionary Herald was indexed while being bound, but the extractors didn't index the donations. I never realized how many locations the Protestant missionaries went to. They were in Africa, Greece, Asia Minor, Asia, Hawaii, and various tribal areas in the U.S. Cont.

#2 I long wondered who or which churches sent the care packages, barrels or boxes. In an extraction of Myra's dairies there was a reference to The Missionary Herald findable at archive.org/details/pub_.... These monthly periodicals starting at 1805 have been very fascinating to look through. Cont.
