Good evening. A cold afternoon, with the threat of more overnight sleet/snow here in Derbyshire, but this glorious sunset, seen here from Trent Lock, made a chilly walk thoroughly worthwhile.

It's been around 8 mths since I posted on social media; I became frustrated with algorithms pushing far-right propaganda down my throat.

Time to give it another go, both here & on Threads; but certainly not on the cesspit that X has become!

Here's tonight's colourful sunset sky over Trent Lock.

Trent Lock at 6.30pm this evening. A pleasure to see the longer daylight hours & only 4 days now until the clocks go forward!

A walk across Hengistbury Head in Dorset rarely disappoints, but when it's as quiet as this and the sun is out, the views in all directions are just glorious.

Christchurch Harbour sunset. Were it not for the chilly wind, it could almost be a summer's day. Not a cloud in the sky.

Missed the worst of Storm Eowyn here in Derbyshire, although this afternoon's walk was still accompanied by a cutting wind.

Nice to see a splash of sunset colour over the Erewash Canal.

After a few days of gunmetal grey skies, we finally saw a welcome splash of colour this afternoon.

Image is one of reflections over Sawley Cut.

20 January 2025.

The day on which a convicted felon, with a history of racism, misogyny & corruption, becomes leader of the most powerful nation in the West.

The day on which the divisive, Nazi-supporting owner of X becomes an unelected member of the US Government.

A grim day for humanity.

Perfect symmetry.

This afternoon's waterside sunset. Clear skies indicating a chilly night to come.

Location: Trent Lock, Derbyshire.

Two days of warmer, characterless weather and I'm already missing the clear skies and beautiful sunsets that accompanied last week's cold snap.

Back to grey skies here, albeit warmer, so one from Friday afternoon - the tranquillity of sunset over an icy Erewash Canal.

This afternoon's sunset over a flooded and very icy West Park, Long Eaton.

Evidently, it's warming up from tomorrow, but it's going to take a while before the water subsides!

An absolutely glorious post sunset afterglow over Trent Lock in Derbyshire this evening.

Another very cold night to come, too.

Good morning. A scene from the beginning of yesterday's walk in the Derbyshire Dales.

A fast-flowing River Derwent at Cromford, set against a backdrop of frost-covered fields, with the remains of recent snowfall still evident in more shaded areas.

Matlock Bath during a 13km walk in the Derbyshire Dales today. This is part of a 600km in 60 days challenge I'm undertaking to promote my late son's Memorial Fund.

Finally able to get out for a welcome walk this afternoon, after a very wet 36 hours.

Unfortunately, sunset colour was disappointing, so I'll share this one from the first week of 2021, when the Trent was just as swollen and fast-flowing as it is today.

Busy start to 2025, inc a 32k dawn 'till dusk walk on 2 Jan, to mark what would have been our son's 32nd birthday & promote his Memorial Fund's annual 5k Run on 9 Mar.

Last post of 2024 & as it's New Year's Eve, a day when Big Ben takes centre stage in the UK, this feels appropriate.

This image of moody skies is from September, when sunset was almost directly behind the Parliament building.

Wishing everyone a healthy, happy and successful 2025.

2024 will be noted as a year when many of us swapped the toxicity of X for Bluesky. Social media as it should be; a pleasure to use.

To end 2024, a couple of my favourite local waterside images, beginning with this Erewash Canal scene from 1 Feb. It needed no embellishment!
