Oil sands oil is in demand for things like asphalt and similar products with some percentage going to fuels but for the most part heavy oils are needed to make the components for roads and roofs. Light oils will disappear long before the heavy's in the Petro chem world. EV's still need roads.

The funny part is it is true they did not necessarily forget cognitively but each year you have to retrain your muscle memory and much of driving is done on muscle memory for acceleration and more importantly braking.

With that much damage it could be many things but my guess is that some control loop did not work right or a cascading failure in the system from the damage taken. Good result in either case.

China was cheap because they do not have the environmental restrictions for the very dirty processes in the refining of these elements. Like so many things we do not want it the industry if it is perceived to be dirty or polluting but will take if from those who are not so nimby.

Pace of operations is wearing out the planes so we are seeing more and more reports like this of planes crashing on routine operations.

The world price is better than if we sell it to the US so the reason to open more pipelines to the coast is to raise the price and not just to increase production in Alberta.

Sounds easy just send some tankers or put it in a pipeline. The problem is Russia's ports and pipelines are designed to export product not receive it so everything is backwards. It will be at best slow and ineffective to stem the shortages.

Their manufacturers are able to produce more weapons than they need at any one time and there is no point in spending money on weapons just to keep the manufacturers happy but if they can export thier surplus capacity it make for economic win and helps with the balance of trade.

Remember not long ago western militaries thought that they could train Ukraine and have them fight like a US coalition force with over whelming air power. Which did not work. Now they need Ukraine to train them in how to protect thier skies from "modern" warfare drones.

Don't cry to me when your community is evacuated because some mountain biker nimby stopped fire mitigation work. Almost lost my home because Parks Canada do not believe in mitigation of Risk.

One thing I wish is that if you are living with a rural post office your address could be linked to the box so all those companies that will not ship to a PO box could send me products.

The other option is to let Canada post go into receivership and restructure along the lines of what the government just allowed and there will be even more layoffs. I live with a rural post office check my mail every week or so and I do not understand why daily home delivery is necessary.

And they wonder why the Tourist visits have collapsed. This kind of thing is not going to get people back and I hope people are sending clips to the Mayor of Los Vegas and Los Angles and the Governor of Florida so they will stop thier whining.
