Personally, I think Graham Hurley is cheating by including Fatherland on a list of “World War II thrillers,” when Jack Higgins’ The Eagle Has Landed is sitting right there. But these are the little debates that make life entertaining, I suppose.

I first read The Once and Future King when I was in my late teens. Subsequently, over a number of years, I read it to three children and enjoyed it more each time. So did they.
