Agree to disagree

That’s Xbox’s own fault. They’re notoriously terrible at messaging
April 2, 2025 at 4:46 PM
It’s almost like Xbox is going full third-party publisher

Oh boy, this thing is gonna be hot garbage lol
March 13, 2025 at 7:18 PM
In order for this thing to be anywhere near affordable, it won’t be that powerful. Unless people are expecting a $700 handheld from Xbox
March 10, 2025 at 5:53 PM
Is anything I said in my above post wrong?
March 10, 2025 at 12:02 PM
Stop trying to lump the entire industry into Microsoft’s failure in the console market
March 10, 2025 at 1:39 AM
No, no it’s not. Not anywhere near on the same level as Xbox. Steam continues to break their concurrent user records, the Nintendo Switch just became the best selling console in the US, and the PS5 is outselling Xbox Series S and X combined 5/1

I can’t wait for Microsoft to end up buying Chrome
March 8, 2025 at 9:46 PM
This is the exact same thing they said before their first expansion released, and we all know how that turned out
March 6, 2025 at 9:31 PM
Can’t wait to see this phone die 6 months post launch

Plus, Steam devs would never opt to give revenue to Xbox with game sales. All those licensing agreements would need to be entirely rewritten and agreed to
March 3, 2025 at 3:51 PM
We’re gonna have to agree to disagree. Xbox users already don’t buy games, adding Steam would simply eliminate what little game sales Xbox currently gets because they are cheaper there. It makes no business sense for Xbox to put Steam on their console
March 3, 2025 at 3:50 PM
Also, how would Steam games work on Xbox hardware? Would Steam devs be expected to all go optimize their games for the hardware? Or would console players be expected to fiddle with settings for 20 minutes to get a game running properly? Neither solution would ever happen
March 3, 2025 at 1:17 PM
I get that. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Xbox attempted to go this route. I just think it would blow up in their face in a spectacular fashion because so many of their console base would simply say, “fuck this, I’m gonna go get a PlayStation where things are simple and just work”
February 27, 2025 at 5:36 PM
Your average console gamer is going to have no clue what 99% of graphics settings do or mean and will be very put off when they have to fiddle with them for 20 minutes just to get a game running above 15fps
February 27, 2025 at 5:33 PM
But that’s the issue. Console gamers don’t want a Steam Deck like experience. I own a Steam Deck and it still takes a fair amount of Googling and fiddling with settings to get many games to run decently. Even ones that are optimized for the Steam Deck.
February 27, 2025 at 5:32 PM
It would be the same amount of work, it changes nothing. Especially since many console versions of games are not at feature parody with their PC counterparts. It’s not like devs can just take PC games, lower the graphics settings, and bam, Xbox version lol
February 27, 2025 at 5:00 PM
This is literally what consoles already do. Consoles run PC games that are optimized for their specific hardware. This wouldn’t change anything. Console versions of games would still be graphically, performance, and feature optimized. Doing what you’re describing would be a dev nightmare
February 27, 2025 at 4:59 PM
He specifically said “one shipped SKU for all platforms” which inherently means there is no optimization
February 27, 2025 at 4:51 PM
But that’s not at all what the OP said. Having the next Xbox “just run PC versions” of games would specifically mean that they aren’t optimized for the Xbox hardware. That was my whole point. And there’s no future where Steam devs go in and optimize their games for Xbox anyway
February 27, 2025 at 4:48 PM
So console players are going to be expected to fiddle with graphics settings to get games to run well? Or what about games that are simply to graphics intensive to run on the Xbox hardware?
