Waking up to the news of the NYC Mayoral Election and very much feeling that Mamdani shows there's a little light on the horizon right now.

It feels a perfect time to be getting this message out here - so consider dropping this a presave

The closer of Alas, So Long is Bower Meadow (as is the painting). Its the only song we've managed to capture music from a dream. Lyrically its the drug infused dream of love lost. Its narrator is love, deluded and in love with a ghost of a relationship

Track 10 on Alas, So Long is Resist. Its full of Rossetti's entitlement and frustration. I also must admit that I probably should have kept the first line as 'embroidery with your husband' rather than modernising it to 'board games with your boyfriend'.

Track 9 on Alas, So Long is Give Me a Sign. Yes it fits the album's theme of love and destiny, but at its heart Give Me a Sign is our love letter to the best 60s British Invasion and bubblegum pop. A short, catchy love song about all the things love songs often ignore.

Track 8 on Alas, So Long is All In. It has the best piece of advice on the album - always choose the bandstand over the beach

Track 7 on Alas, So Long is Unread Books. Directly, its the sadness of Rossetti and Jane not being together while in unhappy marriages. Indirectly, we've all met people where things seems so right yet other people and other things get in the way.
