Something a bit more exotic - blackened shell case with engraved decoration by Nguyen van Trang of the 18th Battalion Indochinois, part of France's colonial forces, while at Miraumont, Somme.
Most men from what is now Vietnam were labourers, but Nguyen was a rifleman.

For Christmas, a gift of chocolate from the islands of Trinidad, Grenada & St Lucia. The base of the tin has been decorated by an RAMC man for his wife in 1917.
