Cue the angry Truths from Trump... and several million dollars in free publicity. Jim ain't no fool.

"The humans have been sitting on the truth for too long!"

I had pretty high standards as a kid. I mean, I had no say in the matter, but I could smell low-effort and knock-off a mile away.

The trick is to be more critical of your own work than any mere observer could be. That's how I like to torture myself!

I enjoyed this aesthetic. Feels like an evolution of the classic 'self-mounted' action shots. Must've been fun to figure out!

There's a good chance they've never even seen a CRT in reality.

The biggest issue with on-screen footage is that it's *never* ready in time for shooting. It's often only produced within days or even hours of final comp. By that time, it's whatever compositor is available, and whatever plug-ins they have to hand.

To think this tech is finally reaching market, and anyone would want to teach a computer how to 'make art' is just mind boggling.

In my experience in Ireland, it's usually a 'buyout', but yes, in the States, an actor can make a living off the residuals from a popular ad. There's definitely a movement amongst streamers to destroy this model in film and TV. I guess this is how they intend to do it in ads.

The agencies are rebranding as AI Whisperers to justify their fees... but I don't think the clients will be willing to pay the same for even an apparently 'indistinguishable' product. Everything will just go in-house to the nephews and nieces of the CEO.

Also, I could see write-ups like this killing corporate enthusiasm for AI at this level: "I thought this was supposed to be cheaper and easier?"

This reminds me of reading Cinefex in the early 2000s: a parade of people sitting in front of screens, talking about scripting and simulation. It pretty much killed my interest in VFX. What happened to actually photographing something? When are we gonna blow shit up?!

Companies can be sued into insolvency over a single line oversight in planning. But I'm sure it will all be fine.

If another pandemic kicks off, Americans will spend a month flying into other countries, wondering why they're being quarantined and deported.
