Picnicface still has a special place in my heart

No worries! I'm sure it's a full trip. Heck, when I hop to Onterrible it's a miracle if I manage to see even a third of my relatives in the area unless there's a wedding or funeral, and pals are even harder to get in the same place at the same time.

Oh hi! I work about a block away from the Citadel clock tower; I would have waved out the window if I knew you were in the neighborhood.

Thank you for the information! I figured it was likely, given the publication dates and all the other work you have been doing. So I'm going to encourage nibling to imagine their own Harriet or Danny adventure (and maybe even draw it?).

If I haven't raved to you about Ursula Vernon's work yet, you probably haven't spent much time sitting still in my vicinity. Her books for grownups are among my faves, but the kidlit is also deftly done. Get to a library or indie bookshop ASAP.

Years ago I started reading the Hamster Princess books aloud to them over video calls when they were grieving the death of their pet hamster. Retold fairy tales with talking animal characters and an entertainingly stubborn protagonist. The series was both a comfort and a delight.

Did you ever see when he was on Broadway in Sondheim's Company? With Martha Plimpton, even. I wish I could have been there to see it live, but the recording is a treat. youtu.be/1mTserEvXWQ

This adorable creature somehow has walrus and tiny dragon vibes at the same time. Such big teefs!

Ah, I'm good with my heritage foods, but I feel just that way about the clam chowder popular in my current region. Each ingredient is individually acceptable, but repellent when combined; I can't get more than a couple bites into seafood with significant amounts of dairy before it gives me the ick.

Every masked ICE swarming/kidnapping I see in the news sends my mind back to April 2020 in NS. But murderous assholes don't have to spend ages prepping and plotting — it's almost like they can just visit a mall to instantly equip their clique to anonymously disappear brown people. 🤬
