Here's how I handled roughly the same situation:
-Find gameplay clips that clearly establish who is dominating the game at which points
-intercut those clips with reactions from the players that tell an emotional story on their own
-leverage crowd reactions as stand-ins for the viewer

Both players faced challenges in their 2nd round of pools. One of my biggest gripes in content like this is how often editors just rely on commentary to carry their narrative rather than using it to *enhance* the story being told. Without audio, it actually looks like Mena is *winning* this match!

For me, not much. I'm mostly listening to people tell me that MenaRD is good. They're telling me how to feel, but nothing here actually evokes an emotional response from me.

Compare to how I handled the exact same situation with the arslan doc:

So when you don't know
-what footage to show
-what the emotion associated with that footage actually is
-the context around that footage

you end up with pure filler, footage that could be replaced by nearly *any other gameplay moment from the entire set*

What does this scene tell you, emotionally?
