Seriously. I'm just a guy who works from home who took literally 10 seconds to Google search "Department of War is not the official name." Check the 6th entry down. It's literally Encyclopedia Brittanica. (Yeah, that's apparently still a thing; who knew? Definitely not the "jounalists" at Newsmax.)

Good. He's a phony Democrat only. Ran with Progressive plumage, even garnering support from Bernie Sanders. The stroke either glitched his brain, or he was playing everyone during the campaign. He sucks. He'll lose.

It would cast a shred of credibility on your organization to acknowledge that Dear Leader Trump cannot just DO whatever he wants. ;-)

In apparent recognition of that fact, the order eventually signed by Trump presents the new name as a “secondary title” of the department, though it also requires other federal departments and agencies to use the new name in official correspondence and nonstatutory documents.

Because the Constitution gives Congress the power to create executive departments and agencies, and because the Department of Defense was so named under Congressional legislation, President Donald Trump cannot legally reinstate the department’s official name under an executive order.

An amendment to the Act in 1949 changed the name of the National Military Establishment to the Department of Defense.

The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica Nov. 14, 2025, write:

In 1947 the U.S. Congress passed the National Security Act, which reorganized and renamed the Department of War, established in 1789, as the National Military Establishment.

*correction: it's still technically the Department of Defense, despite what Private Bonespurs told everyone.

Here we go, try to keep up:

lolz. Then why are so many of his "lawful orders" overturned by judges???

(Note: please strike the phrase "course language" from the first part of this post. The post makes more sense without it because I changed direction mid-sentence and forgot to correct it.) Thanks, R.S.

I know you're tired of hearing it. I know you're tired in general. But we need it: Stewart 2028. Jezus Christ, Jon--just play the clip of Chuck Schumer chanting "we will win!" a few times...that ought to convince you.

YOU are the perfect avatar, the perfect delivery system for the kind message that people need to hear in a way that people will receive it. We want change but we don't want to do it because it's going to be hard. Harder, tho, will be living with worsening climate change & a civilization in decline.

And that's where we are. We need a political revolution in this country. Unfortunately we're Dante. We're miserable, shitting our pants, but afraid to upend the status quo and walk away from it for fear of the unknown--even though the unknown offers clean pants.

RANDAL: Lovely story.

DANTE: Point is-I'm not the kind of
person that disrupts things in order to
shit comfortably.
