indie bookstore day was brutal for my bank account. but alas. i’m feeling a new sense of optimism for reading! like this autobiography of an oregon governor who we named portland’s water front park after.

we spent like 10 hours playing this co-op card game based on the video game slay the spire, it slaps so hard. 10/10
a dinner table with an elaborate card game set up. there is board with energy, block and hit point trackers. it depicts a character with a horned mask and knives. small tokens representing shivs and poison. the card game is called slay the spire.

i truly don’t know how portland’s legislative agenda works, especially now with the expanded city seats, but in july the commissioners sent a letter to legislative leadership saying hb3115 makes it too hard to arrest homeless folks
screen shot of a letter to the president of the oregon senate, rob wagner; speaker of the oregon house of representatives, julie fahey; oregon senate majority leader, kathleen taylor; oregon house majority leader ben bowman. the letter opens asking for a “robust legislative conversation on hb3115 (2021)” aka asking them to revisit the statute so they can complain screen shot of page two, argues that “objectively reasonable” is too confusing and hard to parse, opening the city up for expensive legal action — which is patently false, hb3115 has a very very narrow definition of who can a city about their guidelines, it’s nearly impossible. the letter is signed by all current portland city councilors and the mayor.

i spent way too much money and way too much time making these curtains for my office (especially since we’re moving again in 2 weeks), but tell me they aren’t the cutest.
