I have no idea who gave this book to my son, but it’s about how Thoreau hated Tudor because he impeded on his idyllic Walden pond to harvest ice to send to India. I grew up going to Walden pond constantly and didn’t know this story until I found this book on my kids book shelf.

Just to add—also great for flavored meringue. And I sell a brown sugar strawberry cookie at my bakery that has a small cult following in the summer. For some reason none of the other freeze dried fruits hit like strawberry.

We started reading the dragon masters series when my son was 5. He is 6 now and still enjoying them on book 20. They are easy enough for a little kid to follow and have enough very, very subtle critique of colonialism that I don’t hate them.
