Writer in theory, reader in practice. Library technician by day, librarian by night and weekend, nerd 24/7.
I had the pleasure to hear California Poet Laureate Lee Herrick speak at our local writer's club meeting recently, but his latest book has me thinking once again about how nature and nurture influence who we become (and the likelihood of me actually turning into my mother).

I can call myself a published author if I have two poems featured in a print anthology, right?

Either way, Planet Mojave: New Horizons (2nd ed.) is incredibly shiny, well-crafted, and (hopefully) fun, especially for locals of the Mojave Desert and Ridgecrest area. Enjoy!

Fun Fact: If you throw a baggie of frozen minced garlic into a trash can and leave it in a hot garage for a few days, you can repel both vampires AND humans!

Twelfth Night is already my favorite Shakespeare play, so you better believe I'm excited to watch this tomorrow. www.attitude.co.uk/culture/sir-...

Director Phoebe Kemp said: "Twelfth Night already toys with gender and performance – it feels like Shakespeare wrote it for us"

Libraries are a pretty cool place to be right now. (We have air con).

Just preordered Running Close to the Wind by @alexandrarowland.bsky.social, because if I borrow a library book twice and want to read it again, I should own it. The world also needs more fantasy pirate comedies where the protagonist is a pathetic Tumblr bard with all the charm of a wet feral possum.

When you accept that "media that is 'good'" and "media that you enjoy" don't always have to overlap, you start to enter a much better phase of your life.

Happy 12th birthday to Rory, who occasionally loses her legs and turns into a cat loaf.

It's not officially spring until the tortoise digs herself out of a 6-month long nap and gives you a long disgruntled look.

Distraught and devastated. I have hit my library Hoopla borrowing limit for the month. I must now spend 4 WHOLE DAYS trying to find something else to read on Libby until my borrows return from the war.

Dr. King’s words resonate loudly amid today’s challenges. We need servant-leaders grounded in humility, driven by empathy, and guided by a commitment to fairness. Now is the time for us to hold ourselves—and those who represent us—to these values.

I finally saw the Wicked movie. Why did no one warn me about the callous treatment of books in the "Dancing through Life" number? Clutching my pearls the entire time!

My library offers beverages during finals, including this tea with elderberry. Now's my chance to find out just how scathing that Monty Python insult is.

Highly recommend book addicts try working at a library. You're never far from your next fix and your wallet will thank you. (The other library staff will also enable you. This is both a benefit and a drawback.)
