If someone cuts you off while you’re speaking, never hesitate to say “excuse me, I wasn’t finished.” As a woman, I have to do this regularly in my workplace. It’s become more and more apparent that I have to take up space. No one is giving it to me.

There is no end to what needs to be deconstructed. Relationships, sex, parenting, self care, community, capitalism, colonization, the family, gender, etc. And it all makes me more human and more prone to love. I’m here for it.

I look at my husband every day and think that the faith of my youth thinks this relationship is sin because he’s not a “believer.” But he saved my life. He is the safest person I know. He made it possible for me to heal. How is that not from God?
