So what? Supporting teachers’ social-emotional competence matters for their wellbeing. This is particularly critical given teachers’ wellbeing often declines over a school term. School leadership support appears to play a role in fostering teachers’ PSEC and wellbeing. 3/3

Results? Teachers who felt more support from school leadership at the start of the term, ended the term better off in terms of PSEC. In turn, those with higher PSEC were more likely to see boosts in wellbeing by the term’s end. 2/3

We also examined how these associations varied for students from rural, regional, and city locations. There were some interesting differences. E.g., teaching support showed extra importance in rural and regional locations.
