Back yard beauties. The helicopter (as seen in the pink azelea photo) flew over so low that we could see the people in the cockpit.

Hey there! Not sure why, but i have received an onslaught of private messages on Bluesky the last 24 hours. While I am happy to discuss issues with strangers on the public platform, I am uncomfortable with private chats unless I know you IRL. Thank you for understanding.

Spent the last 12 days in Minneapolis. My daughter and husband invited us to stay in their home and treated us so beautifully. The best part was watching my 12 month old grandson for 5 days while his parents returned to work! Playing with him helped me endure the tanking of my retirement portfolio.

Yesterday marked my one year anniversary of retiring from working in libraries for 29 years. I love my freedom!

Starting before 4am I could hear a man talking nonstop, like from a radio(?) on the other side of our hotel wall. No music, commercial breaks, or alternate voices responding, just a constant delivery of a speech, lecture, or sermon. At 4:45, I finally called room service asking them to intervene.

Crocheting Easter egg sized critters for the grands! My 3 yr old grandson loves ice cream cones, so crocheted him one!

Enjoyed viewing Sly Lives! Questlove Documentary, which led me to devour Sly's 2019 autobiography. Both are thought-provoking on many levels, starting with memories of attending his 1973 concert, rushing to the front, and standing about 15 feet from Sly playing the keyboards! I was 14, lol!

My current craft obsession: watching/reading about turning quilts and Afghan blankets into wearables! Discovered the trend via Poppy Lu. Has anyone tried doing this? I think I will try it for myself.

Another throw I finished a few weeks ago. It was started by mom, who gave up on it. The pattern was challenging at first, and ended up being fun to knit. Maybe I should create more blankets?

I am not a blanket person but had to whip up something worthy of my newest grandchild. Disclaimer: finished this March 2024.

Bluesky is def a new format for this ol' gal to learn, but the effort is worth it. Taking steps like this gives me a measure of empowerment while feeling otherwise so helpless in this current sh*tstorm.

Megan and the grandkids came over for pizza on Friday. They brought their scooter and tricycle to ride around our basement playroom. Marty takes up the rugs so they have an unobstructed surface of over 20'. Dessert- chunky monkey muffins and chocolate ice "dream" (made out of bananas.) Fun times!
