this is petty but these look so much better than the local bakery's christmas cookies. they make great bread but the cookies ... eh.

I can _tell_ theirs are going to be greasy cocoa bombs from the photos. bleh bleh bleh.

recipe for reference:
- 1 bag brownie mix (ghiradelli)
- 1/2 cup flour
- 70g butter
- 1 tbsp coffee

fussy modifications:

we don't really do holidays in this house *except* for Winter Solstice and "I'm married to the most wonderful person in the galaxy" day

and birthdays. honestly all I want from a holiday is a reason to bake something. baking holidays are the best holidays (immediately followed by eating holidays)

raspberry coulis is bullshit. "it takes a couple minutes to strain" is the biggest lie since someone claimed it takes ten minutes to caramelize onions

it took an hour and the kitchen looks like a dracula flyby. my hand is so goddamn tired now.

it's this cake, using the 1.5x measurements at the bottom. I don't know why they tell you to use an 8" cake pan obviously that is not going to be big enough. the base recipe can fill up a loaf pan.
Lemon Ricotta Cake
This lemon ricotta cake gets its plush, melt-in-your-mouth texture from finely milled ‘00’ flour, which keeps it super soft and light.

I want to believe he had a long and cozy life with us. towards the end, his seizures and his arthritis got pretty bad but he was always close by. sometimes too close, he didn't get the nickname Mr Underfoot for nothing.

I'll miss him and his goofy little mrrraps. sleep well, young man. ❤️‍🩹

but he could be a real supermodel when he wanted to. after he got his chin scratchies, obviously. he was very handsome as a young man.

he was the hardest cat to take pictures of because as soon as you got down on his level with a camera, he would come over and head butt it out of your hands and demand pets. 99% of my photos of him are hopelessly blurry.

this was his signature pose.

he had a lot of nicknames - Little Buddy, Mr Young Man Sir, Big Beef Bulgogi Man, Orson Wellington Welles

like all good cats, he loved boxes (especially when they had catnip)

we'll see how they feel when they are washed, but the blue/green skein was a lot denser than the pink one because of the extra twist. It's probably better for the yarn, structurally, but I do love the fairydust-ness of the pink skein.
