(2/3) Elsa died on Dec 26, 1986 and for over 40 years, her ashes were said to have been scattered at sea. Surprisingly, they were actually at the Valhalla Memorial Park under her married name, Laughton.

(2/3) This would be around the time she signed a contract with MGM and moved to Hollywood from Germany to film her first picture, Escapade with William Powell. A film that I am embarrassed to say, I have never seen. She would go on to win two consecutive best-actress Oscars.

(2/3) For the film, the studio felt that her character Wendy could be no more than 16 years old. So, they took a couple of years off Mary’s age during Peter Pan’s advertising. This ended up creating a strange situation when the studio wanted her as their leading lady.
