NL Housing has become the worst landlord on my street. They don’t fix up their units, and don’t secure empty units. We’ve lost at least 10 units on my street already in the last year or so to fires set by squatters. How do people think this is responsible management of our resources?

If you lived in an NDP incumbent riding, had wanted to vote NDP, and didn’t because you wanted to prevent the conservatives from winning, then news flash….it didn’t work.

During a housing crisis and tent city protest we saw John Abbott and Fred Hutton negotiate an expensive 1050 day lease of a hotel with no RFP. Let’s be clear, this was never a response to people living in encampments. It was a political response to outcry from citizens.

White House official pushes to axe Canada from Five Eyes intelligence group. Alienating our friends and courting our enemies. This is straight out of Orwell.

What a win for Canada! It was packed with hockey fans at the Duke of Duckworth in St. John’s, NL. It was also very comforting hearing people’s very loud booing of the Conservative Party ads!

Newfoundland and Labrador is very slow to make change.

What’s your favourite way the province has changed and how was that change spurred on?

Notice to Podcasters and Media:

This is not a time to fill the airwaves with the conversation surrounding the Canadian identity. This is the time for connecting Canadians across the country.

Please tell stories about Canadians and stop deconstructing the Canadian “Brand”. It’s been done.

Here is a new tiny home community in our neighbouring province of NS. Tent encampment residents were moved there. They have a warm room that locks and share bathroom space in a larger building.

Seems like a good solution. Why doesn’t our government think so?

Former encampment dwellers moving to HRM shelter villages
The units are a huge change for people who have been living out in the cold and, in some cases, the woods. Gareth Hampshire got to see one resident's new home when she moved in.

All I want for Xmas is for NL’s detox capacity to double or even triple.

Why are we spending time discussing forced rehab when people who want detox still can’t access it?

Nobody should have to wait.
