Imo, the way to respond to this edge case highlighted by MAGA is to bring your own edge case to break theirs. In this lawsuit, you have girls who took puberty blockers, thus breaking the justification for barring them.

New Hampshire High School Trans Athletes Take Their Fight to Trump
A lawsuit appears to be the first challenge to the constitutionality of an executive order barring trans athletes from girls’ and women’s sports teams.

I was thinking about this recently. I saw a dietitian complain about an ultraprocessed protein bar, but the evidence on ultra processed foods is two RCTs looking at ad libitum consumption. How could she extrapolate to a single individually wrapped bar?

The lack of eggs suggests the price was too low.

I mean, it's better than Trump being the president, yea.

I guess we'll find out in 2026!

Our best chance is people in the administration taking health advice from RFK.

What's wrong? You've hardly touched your riboflavin.

I like the proposed FOP label! Is it possible it gives a health halo to some random hyperpalatable keto snack that uses avocado oil and stevia? Yea, it's not perfect, but the pendulum has swung too far in the direction of judging foods by just vibes.

I advocate for plant based diets, and what I've observed is that you never want to tell someone to explicitly care about something. You have to explain how it is consistent with the values they already have.

I'm a fan. I think reformulation can go a long way.

Yea, that's one angle, that this criticism comes from out of touch elites who don't realize people are short on time. But I would go further and say UPF classification just isn't a good system compared to conventional metrics such as kcal.

I also don't think duration was an issue. In this study of the portfolio diet, it only took about 2 weeks to get near maximal change in cholesterol biomarkers.
A dietary portfolio approach to cholesterol reduction: combined effects of plant sterols, vegetable proteins, and viscous fibers in hypercholesterolemia - PubMed
Plant sterols, soy proteins, and viscous fibers are advised for cholesterol reduction but their combined effect has never been tested. We therefore assessed their combined effect on blood lipids in hy...

There is two distinct strategies. Impossible Foods going with matching animal beef nutrition (warts and all), but lower environmental impact. Beyond Meat is going for heart health and low environmental impact, but missing some key micronutrients.

Nothing in recent politics makes me think the electorate has a long memory. Plus, it's always hard to get appreciation for preventing something bad from happening, which is the conundrum for public health.

What you are saying is true, but I think that is just how things will work out in a democracy with a free press. People are unoriginal. There's nothing suspicious about that.
