Ok so like. Time to start talking about this digital sustainability thingy. Basically, every transaction of data we make online requires energy from a potentially non-renewable resource. So like, let’s solve that with design. We all want the simplest, best experiences.

Ever feel like digital design rules change the second you finally master them? 🌀 It’s not just you—it’s the reality of working in digital. And nowhere is that more true than accessibility. 👀

Ever notice how the fastest sites just *feel* lighter? Like stepping into a sunny, quiet room instead of a packed subway at rush hour. ☀️🚇

You're not scaling your product—you're scaling your patterns.

Most teams think they're scaling their product. But what they're actually scaling are the patterns they use to build it.

I wrote about how Tailwind V4 might just be the most powerful tool in your styling toolchain. I cover its design token first approach, how to use its powerful utility class generation and hot to pair it with future CSS tooling for powerful results. reallygoodwork.com/journals/how...

I’ve been really stoked on tailwind v4 lately as a styling engine. If you’re looking for a cool, easy to setup and scalable styling tool, I encourage you to give it a look!

Couldn’t agree more. The div hell this creates couldn’t demonstrate more of a flippant lack of care for audiences. It’s the equivalent of a snotty teenager passive aggressively doing their chores while rolling their eyes at you. Is this really what we want the internet to be?
We're time traveling back to 1997 today, when WISYWIG editors were all the rage. In the decades since, web technology has clawed its way from that primitive state with semantic HTML that made accessibility possible and let content drive appearance rather than vice-versa.

Then Figma blew it all up.

The dream of being able to generate working websites will remain out of reach until UX redefines its practice around semantic structure rather than layouts.

Let’s reframe what digital sustainability really means. It’s not just cleaner code or greener hosting.

It’s about inclusivity.

Because when your site is lighter, faster, and thoughtfully built, more people get to show up.

One of the easiest things you can do to speed up your site is subset your custom fonts. This means getting rid of any characters you may or may not need to dramatically shrink the size of the file.

Luckily, I made a very cool tool to make this easy to do with www.npmjs.com/package/glyp....

Ever thought about how your website or app impacts the environment? Digital products consume energy—from servers to the devices accessing them. Digital sustainability creates tech that minimizes environmental impact while maximizing business value.

Americans. What are you going to do about it? Like, why aren’t you fighting back?

America. What the eff man. We’re your buds and have always had your backs. With love. With support. Not only are you going to hurt your economy (and ours), but you’re hurting your friends who did absolutely nothing to you.

This sucks. For no reason.

I’m open sourcing coralUI because automating UI design and development handoff is not as important as saving the earth.

I’m going all in on digital sustainability. More to come soon on that.

In the meantime, here’s the core library, the Figma plugin and the playground. github.com/Coral-UI/core

Life update:

I’m pausing work on CoralUI and will make the library source code public for all to use.

I’m going to be leaning harder into digital sustainability as a focus helping others incorporate greener practices into their businesses.

There’s never been a better time for us all to win. 🏆

Friends! I've decided to go back to FTE and need your help finding good opportunities.

I want to work on web apps again on a great team.

I can do product or platform work, am great at React & TS, but happy to grow outside that bubble for the right thing.

DMs are open!

I used to think that finding a niche was finding the thing people would want, and adapting your offerings to it. I know now that your niche can be you and what you’re really fucking good at. Authenticity is your niche. No one can be you, so sell the hell out of that. 💁
