I'm just trying to say that the nebulous concept of "AI" isn't the actual problem.
November 15, 2025 at 11:08 PM
I don't disagree with you, but again, that has little to do with the actual technology of "AI" and everything to do with the corpo fuckasses trying to sell you theirs.
November 15, 2025 at 8:15 PM
This is the core of it. People think they're mad at the AI boogeyman but really they're mad about copyright law.
November 15, 2025 at 7:43 PM
Generative neural networks can run locally on your phone, and they do. You aren't mad about it because it happens quietly and out of your sight. Comparing them is not disingenuous, because they are literally the same thing. The rest of that stuff in your post has nothing to do with the actual tech.
November 15, 2025 at 7:33 PM
The machine learning tools in Photoshop are literally the exact same technology. Adobe just has a massive library of stock images they've been building for decades that they can use to train their models so they've been spared from the actual legal controversy unlike OpenAI
November 15, 2025 at 7:11 PM
It's really not different. That's all marketing. The primary difference is scale. Throwing more, more powerful computers at the problem.
November 15, 2025 at 7:02 PM
The anti-AI crowd also has generally no idea what they're actually battling against beyond some ephemeral boogeyman. Look how many people in this thread have their own definition of what "real AI" is. The marketing surrounding LLMs and GNN models is intentionally deceptive.
November 15, 2025 at 7:01 PM
The distinction you're making has nothing to do with what the actual technology is and only with how it makes you feel. And the ML powered features in Photoshop people are usually referring to are things like content-aware fill and a lot of the quick selection tools.
November 15, 2025 at 6:58 PM
You're falling for the marketing that "AI" is anything more than the machine learning algos we already had.
November 15, 2025 at 6:54 PM
Not trying to defend anything but it is quite literally the exact same underlying tech.
November 15, 2025 at 6:50 PM
That part where it "just does the thing" is where the GNN model lives. And no, it doesn't "just" do it. Adobe just happens to already have a massive content library they can train their algos on so they don't need to scrape reddit or whatever.
November 15, 2025 at 6:49 PM
Not trying to defend the use of AI, but there needs to be more effort to cut through the intentionally deceptive marketing surrounding these terms and understand what they actually mean if we're going to be so militant in railing against them.
November 15, 2025 at 6:44 PM
It actually is. The power/compute hungry part is training the models. The image processing that your phone camera does uses deep learning computer vision algos and generative neural networks. Those silly Snapchat filters that put your face on a hot dog? Same shit. That's where it got introduced.

It turns out maybe line no go up forever
November 10, 2025 at 6:11 PM
It cannot be done.

Especially since they made a whole big deal about making high quality, future proof 3d models for every Pokemon explicitly to ease the workload of including them in new games.

But Smash has evolved into 3rd Party Crossovers: The Game. Being a huge melting pot of IPs is a core aspect of its identity.
October 23, 2025 at 8:04 PM
This is the exact thing that Pat has an issue with.
October 23, 2025 at 5:58 PM
Calling it an irrelevant slogan when it's probably the most well known and recognizable aspect of Pokemon besides Pikachu is wild.
October 23, 2025 at 5:53 PM
I think it's a fundamental flaw with the combat/armor systems more than anything. It's just skewed too far towards hardcore realism to ever feel balanced across the whole level curve.
October 23, 2025 at 5:20 PM
Yeah, they're like, happier, with their mouths more open.
October 22, 2025 at 7:54 PM
No, I'm sure if we just build a few more datacenters things will turn around.

Have you entertained the possibility that the part you play for 40-50 hours *is* the real game?
October 13, 2025 at 7:34 PM
It's also like 2 hours long
