The DOGE playbook is still being carried out by political appointees. I work at SSA and the Commissioner has repeatedly said he is a ‘DOGE guy’ and that we should embrace the DOGE ethos. And many former DOGE staffers have burrowed their way into the civil service.

They are framing this story as if RFK is a modern day Copernicus.

Schatz should to this to the leaders of his own party who refused to endorse or support the *Democratic Party nominee* for mayor of the largest US city. Establishment democrats are more than happy to subtract anyone to their left while lecturing us that we must welcome MAGA dropouts with open arms.

I was just mocking Pritzker's claims that IL State Police are protecting protestors.

"Local and state police set up designated protest zones with barricades to keep protesters away from the ICE facility... Pritzker said the mission’s stated goal would be protecting protesters’ freedom of speech..."

"The Illinois State Police were protecting Rev. Michael Woolf's ability to safely exercise his First Amendment rights."

And unlike habeas corpus or trial by jury, the filibuster is NOT in the constitution, which makes it even more ridiculous democrats are so intent on protecting it. The filibuster is just a chamber rule that was made up by senators and could just as easily be removed by them from the Senate rules.

@nytimes.com made a whole news story about a mayoral candidate‘s failed college applications. Do you think that was more newsworthy than documentary evidence showing the US president lied and withheld evidence about his relationship with the most notorious child sex trafficker in history?

Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries are a team. The idea that Jeffries was opposed to Schumer’s coordinated capitulation of the Senate democrats is absurd.
Jeffries backs Schumer amid fierce Democratic backlash to shutdown deal
“Yes and yes,” the House minority leader told reporters when asked if Schumer was effective and should keep his job.

I wonder how many of the senate democrats actually disagree with decision to cave on the shutdown. I think the public denunciations are largely for show and that most of them didn’t even want to undertake this fight to begin with.
November 11, 2025 at 5:58 PM
I think Sanders is being honest: there are no members in the senate democratic caucus who are willing to challenge Schumer. It reminds me of how in the 2020 presidential election Sanders treated Biden like a respected member of the Dem establishment instead of an ideological enemy to be vanquished.
November 11, 2025 at 3:10 AM
Your ‘no’ vote was part of a coordinated capitulation by the entire senate democratic caucus.
November 11, 2025 at 2:49 AM
Even if AFGE leaders thought the shutdown had become too costly, they could‘ve put the blame squarely on the Republicans who can reopen the gov at any time by changing the senate rules. Instead they blamed ‘both sides’ and implied the Dems were playing political games by not supporting a ‘clean CR’.

I am a federal employee who has been going without pay and an AFGE member. Many of us are furious at AFGE leadership. AFGE members have been repeatedly told by leadership we can’t engage in direct action because it will ruin our ‘litigation position’ and our credibility with the Democrats.

Imagine being so captured by neoliberal ideology that you can’t imagine the government running a small pilot program to supply groceries in neighborhoods that are not currently being served by private grocers. I guess the best way not to deceive vulnerable people is by promising them nothing!
November 3, 2025 at 6:16 PM
Allison Spanberger and other establishment democrats show their care and concern for “vulnerable people“ by attacking one of the only politicians in the Democratic Party who is articulating a tangible agenda to provide those vulnerable people with material benefits that will improve their lives.
Abigail Spanberger takes a swipe at Mamdani, saying "maybe he should be a Democrat" and that his campaign promises are dishonest.

This is what police do. One of the first pieces of advice I got when I started doing criminal defense was to bring a camera with me when I picked up new clients in lockup so I could document any injuries the police caused during the arrest.

“[M]any patients with long COVID have yet to find meaningful recovery. Around 6% of adults in the U.S. — or roughly 18 million — are estimated to be living with the damaging aftermath of catching the virus…. And it's not a thing of the past — new patients are still showing up in doctor's offices.“
5 years since the pandemic started, long COVID patients are still hoping for a cure
They're pushing for more funding to find effective treatments. Researchers are finally starting to make headway but have a way to go.

As an AFGE member, I can tell you that it has been doing virtually nothing to protect our interests. And that was before our national leadership adopted the republican’ rhetoric and advocated we give up this fight for nothing in return. This is just more salt in the wounds.
