A better comparison would be against the % of scientists from low SES backgrounds and % who get a Nobel prize controlling for the father's occupation.

Still sucks, though. Whatever the reason, it is unfair.

I'd be surprised if this was just not (1) the logical consequence of people of low SES not having high education opportunities and thus not becoming scientists, and (2) a particular sort of mentorship opportunity from their fathers.

Wild. I want to see the justification for these books having negative outcomes for youth. Why not aim for some of the more potentially harmful books like The Anarchist's Cookbook, Rage, or some of the more messed up eroticas?
