Filmmaker, webdesigner, creative, in MN. I am here begrudgingly because there's interesting people, but I'm very suspicious of Bluesky's ownership and operation, so I probably won't post much. On Mastodon at https://mefi.social/@RealDerekDahlsad

Yeah, that's my existential crisis about bisexuality -- the response is either "that's not a thing, everybody's like that" or "you're gay when you're with someone of the opposite sex, and straight if you're with the same sex, there's no in between, pick a side". Okay, thank you expert.

Are you in the US? I subscribe to the Grant County (Minnesota) Herald, because I own a property in that town -- it's very small-town but also a very well run newspaper. They still do the "police blotter" which explains every time the cops are called out, which can be amusing. grantcountyherald.com

Unfortunately OK and NM are largely due to the huge, impoverished Native American populations.

Oregon's interesting - it looks like their high usage is they just really try to get people eligible to actually apply, vs making the process discouraging, particularly where there's high unemployment

Oh, man, I'm in an online History of Rock and Roll course, and in his prerecorded lectures the teacher talks *so* slow, punctuated by "um"s, I have to play it at 2x for him to sound normal. I will admit, I am also a person who would rather read than watch or listen, so much wasted time.

I found that really soothing to watch, though, I know there was more than once I got lost in the little blocks moving around and suddenly it was 2am.

That includes visual distinction during purchasing -- I once had three bottles of the same conditioner because I managed to somehow grab it instead of shampoo more than once.

Prairie Public Broadcasting out here in Fargo-Moorhead is facing the same problems. They're both so valuable to the community I hope they can figure something out.

On the other hand, puritanical American filmmaking wants its movies expanded out to 180+ minutes by adding 45 minutes of extra punching and gunplay (as long as there's no blood and when people get shot they fall down right away. Rules don't apply if target is a robot, then body horror is fine)

In Pulp fiction, there's a small part where the line gets cut off and he says "I'm just a coffee shop--" and he's listed in the credits as Coffee Shop
