Beyond that, it has always been my understanding among conservatives that it is the family that should make decisions for their children as "parents know best," and the government should keep out of such decisions. Does that only count when it's something conservatives like?

Mr. Vice-President, can you name any cases that involved pre-pubescent children who were given "irreversible surgical procedures?" I know of no state that performs surgeries for anyone under the age of 18, and HRT is usually not done until at least 16 with parent and doctor approval.
