@joycewhitevance.bsky.social Did the administration request en banc decision for this? Aren’t appeals usually just 3 judges? This report says that it was a 7-4 verdict?

An appeals court said Trump couldn’t levy his tariffs. What happens now? — The Washington Post
Despite the ruling, the appellate judges let President Donald Trump’s tariffs stand to allow time for a likely appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

#SistersInLaw would love to hear your thoughts on today’s terrible SC ruling—furthering their war on women and, more surprisingly, that they’d overlook an individual’s personal liberty in favor of states’ management of funds!

I took to posting on FB today after seeing ICE is at it again raiding businesses & rounding up undocumented workers in LA. These are human beings trying to build lives & support families & corporations are profiting from a lower-wage labor pool. Go after the source. www.facebook.com/share/p/12Da...

Our Govt tells us the “problem” is the undocumented worker!

But for the many corporations $PROFITING$ substantially from a workforce willing to work for lower wages, there would be no market for their labor.

Start fining companies $1M/day/undocumented worker & the market for their labor goes away

More weaponization of the Justice Department resources…to settle perceived scores against him or by perceived liberals…

Wow! What a surprise…I can’t believe how tricky Donald Trump is to figure out…a true negotiating genius… 🤮

Seriously…a total nut job who has no idea what he’s doing.

I can think of nothing more unconstitutional than indoctrinating children in religion from the time they enter grade school…in case Republicans need to check their latest copy of the constitution—it kind of says that there shall be no state sponsored religion…

Ten Commandments in every classroom: Texas bill nearing law — The Texas Tribune
The House has preliminarily approved Senate Bill 10 even though a similar Louisiana law was deemed unconstitutional. Supporters say Christianity is core to U.S. history.

How did we ever allow ourselves to get to a point where a “news network” (basically) indoctrinates its viewers into this “don’t believe anything they say—we’re the only ones telling you the truth?”
Leave it to Kayleigh and the Fox clowns, who paid $787.5M for lying to their own viewers, to demand a special counsel to probe why the man who cleaned up their boss’s mess… is old. He saved the country, and they want to indict him for aging. Give us a break, would you?

Recently, I’ve thought a lot about Ben Franklins prescient words— a Republic, if you can keep it.

It’s taken nearly 250 years but we now face the perfect storm of authoritarian Executive, extremely unbalanced Court unwilling to fairly call balls and strikes and an impotent Congressional majority.

Christian nationalists decided empathy is a sin. Now it’s gone mainstream. — Vox
It’s a provocative idea: that empathy — that is, putting yourself in another person’s proverbial shoes, and feeling what they feel — is a sin.

This is damn scary. This is no accident. It was slipped in hoping no one would notice or make a fuss…that’s exactly how authoritarians take control of democracies—one small step at a time until they eventually have total control before anyone is the wiser and it’s too late to overturn…

It’s unconscionable & immoral that Republicans decide it’s ok to give billion$ of add’l dollars to the Defense budget and huge tax giveaways to the ultra-wealthy & then rationalize that, to pay for those expenses, we cut healthcare and food assistance for families who desperately need the help!

The President has EVERYTHING to do with it…what a complete jackass stupid thing to say…and this woman is supposed to be smart enough to speak for the President…honestly, she might be one of the dumbest people to ever hold the position of press secretary.
May 20, 2025 at 11:21 AM
It’s my understanding Republicans are shutting out Democrats from any input into the federal budget negotiations. Last I checked, the govt spending affects all of us and not just the 50% who elected them?

How is that anything but authoritarian, anti-democratic?

If Trump really thinks there’s any peace without defeating Russia’s aggression, he really is delusional…Putin wants only to cripple and destroy what is Ukraine…anything else is unthinkable and would result in a weakening of Russia’s perceived power in the region.

You have got to be f**king kidding me… how much more shameless can this administration be (turning people lives and their status as a free person) is determine by some sort of game show like element? This is egregious and devoid of human decency.

Key takeaway: that Republicans aren’t interested in governing. They’re only interested in DICTATING the terms for living in the United States. Their terms! By cutting Democrats out of the process completely, they’re acting like a totalitarian government, not a democracy!
