Lover of Historical Fiction, Romance and Mystery. I post as I read.
I recently finished "The Rushworth Family Plot" and I have to compliment her on her amazing characterization! I love Jonathan and Juliet so much and I am beside myself waiting for the next book to see how they might be able to reunite. For the mystery, I had too many options to accurately guess!

This is my favourite podcast, and it was such a joy yesterday to listen to! As someone who doesn't love the 2005 version it was good to listen to what makes it enjoyable and it's drawbacks.

I recently finished Mimi Matthews' "Rules for Ruin", her first book in her new "Crinoline Academy" series! Matthews has a talent for making unique characters who feel real. I loved Effie and Gabriel's story and I loved to see his tenderness towards her! I can't wait for the next book!

I just finished A Terribly Nasty Business by Julia Seales and it was just as good as the first in the series! Funny, clever and engaging! I know it just came out but now I'm dying for the next mystery!

I'm so excited to start India Holton's "The Geographer's Map to Romance"! The first in the series was hilarious and I can't wait to jump in!

I recently finished "The Gresham Scandal" by @tracygrant.bsky.social and thought the unmasking of a new adversary was very engaging! I found it very interesting to pick up the changes in society and opinion from the earlier mysteries, the shift from revolutionary ideals. #historicalmystery

Now that sales are declining compared to romantasy and contemporary, are we in the midst of the unmaking of the historical romance genre? #RomanceBooks #HistoricalRomance

I'm jumping back into @tracygrant.bsky.social's Rannoch Mystery series! Jeremy and Judith just arrived at Mélanie and Malcom's house and it's like I'm back with old friends! #historicalmystery

Finished Book #5 in @mimimatthewsesq.bsky.social's Somerset Stories series! I loved James's Darcy-esque character and Hannah's strength! I can't believe I have to wait until August for the next book! I read the excerpt and can't wait to see what the years have brought Jack! #historicalromance

Book # 3 in @mimimatthewsesq.bsky.social's Somerset Stories was delightful! The couple were young but determined! I love how they always look to the future!

I just finished @mimimatthewsesq.bsky.social's The Muse of Maiden Lane and I am so happy for Stella and Teddy! It is such a complete series! I love the marriage of her "Parish Orphans of Devon" series and this one! It's like getting a postcard or a note from an old friend!

I've just reached Stella and Teddy's first kiss and I am absolutely giddy! I love it so much! @mimimatthewsesq.bsky.social

The beginning of @mimimatthewsesq.bsky.social's The Muse of Maiden Lane is so lovely! He complimented her so earnestly and I love it!

I recently finished @amaliehoward.bsky.social's The Worst Duke in London and I loved it so much. I was so happy for them, and just like in 10 Things I Hate About You that the villain got what he deserved! I can't wait to learn what Briar's rom-com connection is and to read her story!

This is exactly how I felt! I had to read it at home AND listen to it in the car because I could not put it down! The Ornithologists Field Guide to Love is outstanding!
Y’all, I finished reading this book last week and it was SO GOOD! I resented anything that interrupted my reading of it. I need to dive into @indiaholton.bsky.social ‘s other books IMMEDIATELY.

I find the characterization of Lady Catherine and Mr Collins to be so excellently done. They would have opinions on the proper height of a gentleman as if Jonathan Darcy had any control over that!

I recently finished "The Murder of Mr Wickham" by Claudia Grey and I appreciate all the details put into weaving all of our favourite characters into one story! And now I'm onto the next in the series - The Late Mrs Willoughby!

Ah it was so good! I was so worried about how they were going to end up together in the end! I love the Hellfire Kitties and need more!
I'm listening to @amaliehoward.bsky.social's "Never Met a Duke Like You" and I love the nods to Clueless and Emma! They are still at their "enemies" stage so I can't wait to see how this romance comes to be! 💖 #HistoricalRomance

I'm a few chapters into "The Murder of Mr Wickham" and I'm praying that that "precariously hanging mace" is what takes him out and not one of our beloved characters 🤣

I just finished listening to "Always Be My Duchess" and I am in love with this concept (classic rom-coms as historical romance - this one is inspired by Pretty Woman)! Really enjoyable, I can't wait to read/listen to the rest! #HistoricalRomance

After finishing the third in the series, by accident, I had to go back and start at the beginning of Christi Caldwell's "All The Duke's Sins" series! "Along Came A Lady" was a great introduction!
January 29, 2025 at 12:55 AM
I usually read gentle and light-hearted books; therefore, I don't often read books that would have a "Who hurt you?" line. Christi Caldwell's "The Duke and the Diamond" had a great one!

I finished Christi Caldwell's "The Diamond and the Duke" which is her take on Beauty and the Beast! It was emotional and captivating. I needed more after it was finished, an epilogue or even the next in the series (if there will be one), just so I can see a snippet of their life!
