I have some big oaks that are always the last trees to drop their leaves. Their leaves are finally coming down and just sitting on top of the snow.

We had our annual pumpkin carving party tonight at my friend's house. This year we used color changing tea lights, which were a big hit. Mine is the third from the left in the bottom row, the one with round eyes and a giant mouth with three upper teeth.

Finally a little bit of rain today, and cooler temperatures. It feels like the beginning of fall. I went out for an evening walk after the rain, and there a lot of these Red Efts out and about.

Something fun and nerdy for your timeline. A friend of mine gave me a super fun clock for a recent birthday. It is made up of squares whose widths equal the first six terms of the Fibonacci sequence 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8. The squares light up in different colors to denote the time.

Went with some friends to Extreme Mini Golf today. The course was challenging and fun and scenic. It might be our new favorite mini golf course.

I taught the cross product in Calculus 2 today. I showed them the right hand rule to determine the direction of the result and reminded them that I wouldn't have been able to demonstrate it at the beginning of the semester with my broken hand in a splint 🙂

I have been keeping track of when the crocuses come each year (date that the flowers are open).

Crocuses are up! My Dad helped me plant them in the fall of 2001. He died in February and this is the first time they have come up without him. Miss you, Dad.

Swelling and bruising has gone down considerably and my hand is becoming more functional by the day. Still have to buddy tape the fingers, but making big progress.
