Over the course of the last six months, I’ve been working on being able to write again. Here’s a little behind-the-scenes at what that looks like.

Hello all from Read Appalachia HQ!

RA is still on break for the winter holidays, but we’ll start gearing up again here in a few weeks.

I hope y’all are surrounded by stacks of excellent books as we weather through all of these snow storms. Stay safe out there! ❄️

Happy Pub Day to @browneallover.bsky.social! I’m currently reading and loving his new novel. ✨
Publication day is finally here for They All Fall the Same!

It’s been described as The Sopranos meets the Hatfields and McCoys. It’s being recommended for readers who like S.A. Cosby and Eli Cranor.

Can't pick a general favorite of the year, but my favorite Appalachia-based read was Sidle Creek. Each story was so connected to nature in a way that felt truly authentic to our region.

tough call for me. I’d say it’s between Percival Everett’s THE TREES (for its crisp pacing, blend of surrealism and realism, and wicked satire) and JANE EYRE (for the usual reasons). But I’m currently reading Mariana Enriquez’s OUR SHARE OF NIGHT and it could become the favorite!
