After police force entry, her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired a shot, believing they were being invaded. The officers then fired back, with one of the officers, Brett Hankinson, firing 10 shots into the apartment, and Taylor was struck by multiple bullets. The incident sparked national protest against police brutality and systemic racism.

Veteran's Day Story Time:
I wrote this Veterans Day family story for my grandkids: Thomas McQueen was my great x - 4 grandfather and he was born in December 1761 in Carroll, Maryland. He and his brothers fought in the Revolutionary War because they disagreed with how England was treating the people in the colonies in America. Thomas was 21 years old when he fought in 1782 near Mingo Bottom on the Ohio river, which is now Mingo Junction, OH just south of Steubenville and north of wheeling, WVA. I remember my grandma Zelda telling me about her great grandfather Thomas McQueen. She told a story of how he was captured by the Indians while he was a soldier in the revolutionary war. Thomas and his younger brother Daniel McQueen served under Colonel William Crawford in 1782. Colonel Crawford lead and expedition to get rid of Native American villages along the Muskingum and Sandusky rivers in Ohio, because the Native Americans were attacking the American settlers. But the expedition ran into big trouble and became known as Crawford's Defeat. It all went bad when the British came to the aid of the Natives while Crawford and his soldiers were burning their villages. There was a big battle between Crawford and his soldiers and the British along the Muskingham on June 4, 1782, that lasted for two days. A pic of Thomas McQueen's tombstone More British soldiers were sent in from the main headquarters in Detroit and when those soldiers arrived, Colonel Crawford soldiers attempted to retreat, but about 70 of Crawford's 500 men or killed. Colonel Crawford and many of his soldiers were captured. Our relative, Thomas McQueen Was one of the captured soldiers, his brother Daniel was killed. Grandma Zelda said that after Thomas and the other soldiers were captured, they were forced to run the gauntlet, and Colonel Crawford was burned at the stake. But Thomas was Scottish and had flaming long red hair. Grandma Zelda said that the Indian women loved the color of Thomas's hair and they wanted him to live with them and marry one of the native girls, so they ask the Indian chief to spare Thomas's life. After about a year of living with the natives, Thomas McQueen escaped from them. He was trying to get back to Mingo Bottom, but he was recaptured by the natives. The natives sold him back to the British. This time he was taken to the headquarters and put in shackles. After about three months, the British said they would set him free if he would enlist and fight with the British army period but Thomas refused and so he stayed a prisoner of the British in Detroit until the end of the Revolutionary War. He was finally released at the end of the war and he returned home to Mingo Bottom. He wrote about the details of his war experience in his application for a 'soldiers' benefit' military pension in 1832. A map showing the Muskingum River drainage area into the Ohio R.

My weekly letter to my US House Representative
Hello. Welcome to your semi-annual US House Representative Performance Review. As your constituent, you work for me and my fellow neighbors in your District. In the past 19 weeks or 133 days, you have worked a mere 20 days. Therefore, you are charged with Job Abandonment for failing to show up for work without any prior notice. This is considered voluntary resignation without notice and therefore, your failure to work is considered grounds for termination. We believe it is time to hold special elections for your abandoned position. Why you would make yourself irrelevant is beyond me, but you won't be missed when you're gone, because you were so ineffective, you were barely here anyway. All the very best to you in your new endeavors. You'll need it.

Don't stream fascism: cancel Spotify. Spotify is running ads recruiting agents for ice, the federal agency charged with mass deportations and surveillance of immigrant communities. These ads target vulnerable populations, promise signing bonuses, and normalize fear and intimidation in our neighborhoods. Spotify claims these ads comply with their policy, but the truth is: streaming hate is not neutral. It is a choice. We refuse to fund it. We refuse to ignore it.
