I remember our family getting aTV and it had a remote... and it was a big deal. I also remember playing computer games that used loud boops and beeps from the hardware to simulate sounds/ music... because soundcards didn't exist yet.

I think the is also a large difference between a writer planning the travel to be interesting and the players (in dnd) not being engaged as they just want to move on, I myself have seen lot of travel moments in my dnd and very rarely do they end up interesting, it usually have to be well planned.

I agree, for fiction in general. There is a reason many stories use the travel part as a way for characters to grow and experience different cultures and environments.

An annoying question, I know, but how much time do you spend on your works? Do you have any rough time tables you try to stick to or do you let the works take as much as they need?
