The original idea was to create a book display for an edition of Poe's tales that I own. Over time, it occurred to me that in the highly unlikely event I'd sell the sculpture, the book would probably go with it. That's a nonstarter.

I keep getting radically different ideas for my Poe sculpture/diorama. Up to and including an attempt to break the big quote wall/floor in half. It's Apoxie Sculpt though, so I have my doubts I can physically make that happen cleanly. Also, sometimes a sound idea looks stupid at first so

Some tools of the trade (and some tentacles).

I gathered together the three sculptures that have been in progress for at least the last year. I love the journey, but it fails when all the internal voices have strong doubt.

As a professional diabetic, anytime someone at work tells me that the workshop will have have snacks and lunch, I think about

Using Android for this usually just means fixing combined words, weird capitalization, not figuring out some of my badly sketched characters, things like that. Easy enough to fix, but still hard to convince myself I should submit any. 🙃

I'm the worst at deciding what my best pieces are, but I think the home page gallery is mostly set now.

I've said this before, as a diabetic packing for a week's vacation worth of snacks and emergency possibilities is like adding the whole pantry to the suitcase.

They were able to get some of my construction fence graphics up today. That's certainly a good way to lead into a vacation. #design #designer

The new construction fence I designed is in the process of going up here on campus. Eight panels of 45' each (duplicated over a long ways too) counts as the largest thing I've ever designed.

I thought the Halloween decorations in Blackhawk, Colorado, were on point this weekend.

For size reference. Also, being diabetic there's some humor using a forbidden Pepsi for this.

Keeping the evil conquistadors on the base, even when the base is unfinished, works great as a paint stand to hold them still. Especially with the finer details, this skull on his glove is around a quarter of an inch.

Anyway, I'm adding exterior design work to the base, and touching up the third evil conquistador's paint.

I battle internally a lot with writing and sculpting. It gives me the catharsis I need, but I feel it'll never escape my office. I have the afternoon to myself, so at least I can put aside the imposter for now

Here's a close-up photo of the texture. I was going for dirty/bloody scale/skin/lines.

I sculpted and textured the first of the turtle's tentacles. It won't stay pointed up like this, they all will flow out once I'm done.

Getting the last of the Apoxie Sculpt out of the container is always an adventure.
September 28, 2025 at 10:47 PM
I'm tired and it's been a long work week, but I thought a few quick paint fixes to one of my evil conquistador sculptures would do me good.

Well the brownies do look like monsters I suppose (new pan).

We literally only looked away from the zucchini plant for one day.

The trip to our friend's pumpkin farm was quite successful.

I don't know that anyone will ever be interested in my sculpting (watch out for my imposter syndrome there). But I did have fun creating this stone block texture.

I was going to try to get some sculpting in before we go to our friend's pumpkin farm. But I needed to do some rearranging and adjusting first.
