As I wade in the crushing heaviness of anxiety & attempt to fend off countless intrusive thoughts, an idea came to me. Life is not cruel, as my battered mind would like me to believe. No, life is just life. It is neither cruel nor merciful. The darkness exist so the light has something to brighten.
