Our focus is on the interaction between religion, culture and society. We encourage and support students and staff to develop their talents within our academic community, and intellectual curiosity and knowledge sharing in order to contribute to society.
On November 11, our Institute of Indian Studies welcomed the Indian Ambassador. They spoke about various avenues of collaboration: support in carrying out research projects, organisation of events and workshops, with Indian artists, for a broader audience in Groningen, and much more. Stay tuned!

2 oktober organiseerden we de publieksacademie over Religie en Musea! Met inspirerende sprekers Valika Smeulders, Lieke Wijnia en Sterre Berentzen, een enthousiast publiek, en de fijne samenwerking met Dagblad van het Noorden kunnen we niet anders zeggen dan dat het een heel geslaagde avond was.

Last Thursday, we celebrated the opening of our academic year! Augusto de Campos Neto held an inspiring speech about the strength of the middle, and as always when we have something to celebrate at our faculty, our amazing faculty band performed! 🎶

Dit mooie gebouw van binnen bekijken? Op zaterdag 13 september mag iedereen rondkijken tijdens Open Monumentendag! Van 11.00-17.00 zijn we geopend en kun je de zittingszaal van de oude rechtbank zien, bekijken waar de gevangenen vroeger zaten of rondlopen in onze binnentuin. Tot dan!

Deze zuilen zijn leefregels waar moslims zich aan houden; naast de ramadan heb je ook de geloofsbelijdenis (shahadah), het gebed (salat), geld aan de armen geven (zakat) en de pelgrimstocht (hadj).

Students of Museums and Religions presented their pitch for an exhibition on Asmat objects at the University Museum! Andreas Wahyu, director of the Asmat Museum for Progress and Culture in Papua (Indonesia), and Feije Duim, president of PACE (Papua Heritage Foundation) attended the presentations.
