A minor gripe in this hellscape, but also it feels like a metaphor

I’m on the floor emotionally after being sick for like 3 weeks but this is a great time to immerse myself in the delightfully freakish, intricately beautiful, exquisitely crafted writing of #KMingChang I wanna write like that. Gross & gorgeous, clever queer & gravitas all at the same time. #booksky

#CeliaCruz was perhaps the first Black Woman who had a deep influence on me. I grew up in a multiracial Caribbean neighborhood in Miami in the 70s and 80s, raised by my Cuban immigrant mom with the idea that we would go back to Cuba some day, very soon. Spoke Spanish at home and listened to Celia.😍

For many of us #BlackHistoryMonth is every month. We can read Black authors, support Black businesses, listen to/follow Black folks (esp women and LGBTQIA folks) every day. #BlackHistoryYear Here is my day 1 Black History ICON

Reflecting on the words of Pauli Murray
In not a single one of these little campaigns was I victorious. In other words, in each case, I personally failed, but I have lived to see the thesis upon which I was operating vindicated. & what I very often say is that I’ve lived to see my lost causes found.

I highly recommend Girl, Woman, Other by Bernadine Evaristo. Here is a screencap of part of the description on #storygraph which is a Black woman owned app that is a great alternative to GR

Sucks to be sick in bed on my day off, BUT this is a perfectly salty/sweet balm. Reading in bed feels healing in more ways than one. #booksky #sonorareyes #queerfiction #yafiction #latinefiction missing my #qtbipoc #bookish community in this #booktok #bookstagram exile esp Bookishafrolatina & Lupita
