While some of it is superficial, I think that it's okay to admire and respect people who show results from a dedication to their fitness journey.

ie. the more teams use it, the less effective it becomes.

The problem with "Money Ball" type strategies is that it relies on a system where edge case players are missed by traditional recruiting. Once a majority of teams are using (at least in part) mathematical systems to find potential players the effectiveness of the strategy drops significantly.

I am running and playing both, but only because ongoing campaigns won't switch for a bit. But I wouldn't run 2024 without a handful of house rules that fix some Weapon Mastery stuff and change Conjure Minor Elementals at least. (my fix is to limit it to once per round and let it scale.)

Looks super fun!

Do you think it would be less satisfying to have static damage?

What else have people tried?

Spell crits seem fine since they tend to scale into multiple dice and you have a lower chance of 1+2 or some low roll. I don't like that monster attack and spell crits generally double damage, while weapon attacks increase it be approximately 1/3, or a bit more for two handed.

2.) Double the whole damage roll, so weapon users get non-dice bonuses. Adds weight to stat bonuses and magical weapon bonuses, which might be good.

1.) Add you proficiency bonus to a crit. Works well with D&D Beyond, and if someone forgets I can just adjust the damage myself quickly. Also works fine with spells with lots of dice.
