Watching The Gilded Age I noticed the cardboard-like collars the men wore in the 1880s.
Googling found out they were heavily starched linen or cotton that were detachable. Since there were no washing machines this was an easier way to switch out collars than laundering a shirt.

If you live with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo 👂🏼(BPPV), this book is helpful. I use Dr. Foster's Half Somersault maneuver when waking with dizziness; book has variations of technique, plus tone of explaining BPPV makes it easy to understand. 👍🏼
