What I find interesting is how he phrased it as "WW1, WW2. Everything IN BETWEEN. Everything that CAME BEFORE". VIetnam falls outside of that, so he's technically correct. NOW, I admit I may be giving him way too much credit here, and he thinks that (a) we won there &/or (b) it was before WW2...

That number is misleading, because of the 1.25 million votes there were 200k+ blank and intentionally invalidated ballots.

2/2 So much so that, despite PR being a mostly 2-party system between pro-statehooders & pro-"commonwealthers", the pro-independence party (PIP) has seen an increase in voter share from single digits in the 80s to around 30% this last election.

(VERY broadly) The move away from statehood has increased over the years as a result of changing demographics and better awareness of the colonial history of the island over the last 500+ years, resulting in a greater desire for self-governance. 1/2
