“Don’t hate the driver, hate their fanbase”
Yeah but Albon even said it himself along with various engineers within RBR that the car is the car, it’s developed with pace and speed in mind indifferent of any drivers preferences. It’s not like it’s tailored and built around the driving style of verstappen, I think they just coincide.

Well maybe they are testing different parts before running them on Verstappen’s car. Even if that’s the case though it wouldn’t contribute that much of a deficit 3 qualifying sessions into the season. I think it’s just a combination of a skill issue and an extremely difficult car to adapt to.

Well setup is driver dependant for the most part but it’s not like they’re separate cars. There hasn’t been any indication that they’re running different spec parts from Lawson vs Verstappen’s car. Then again there hasn’t been anything to support my assumption either so it’s all speculation.

Yeah I agree. It compounds over time too after years of trying to emulate previous builds for performance they keep circling back to what made it fast in the first place and builds its entire philosophy around that. If it’s drivable or not is a question to be had after its build lol. Max can though.

I don’t think anyone realistically expected RBR to be fighting for the constructors this season. Even if Lawson has point performances you’re competing against McLaren again. There’s also no shot that they would even consider Hadjar as a replacement at this time, they can’t afford another rookie.

I think Alex Albon summarized it quite well on the High Performance podcast. I genuinely think that car is so hard to drive but if you can drive it, it’s fast. Max being one of the very few to be able to do it. So yeah for Yuki’s sake it could be detrimental considering he’s doing well at RB rn.

If 4 drivers in 6 years are all struggling to compete either anywhere appropriately or consistently in that second seat at what point is it an issue with the car? I’m all for it after a few more races but what happens when Yuki underperforms too. Then what? I guess we shall see soon enough.
