Oh, they are definitely responsible. The tech bros, too, started with Gen X, after all, and they gave us Trump and more. The conservatives who aren't total MAGA are the "not crazy about him but I have voted for Republicans since forever because of teh babiez and I heart guns, and he's the nominee."

I don't know if they will ever join the Dems, but I definitely have some conservative Gen x acquaintances who voted for Trump once and not again. I can talk to those people, even move them toward voting D vs sitting out, in a way I literally cannot talk to a Trumpist.

Super interesting, but that wasn't my case. I was bused even further out into the suburbs than I already lived. Although probably even then, the area there had a lot of Latine and East and SE Asian families. I'm not sure where most of the (about 25%) Black students came from, those who were bused.

....it was mostly everything LGBTQ that we had to learn about in college (if we went). The AIDS quilt was in our high school years, for some of us.

I am genX too, and although many of my gen are indeed either conservative or Trumpist (not the same thing!), some of us grew up during peak school integration, and for us that integration was at least semi-successful at helping us know people of different races and religions. ....
