I acknowledge the shameful history. It seems to me that Democrats made amazing progress on issues important to you. Most Democrats support the Civil Rights Act Title VII. Do you?

Unfortunately the alternative is Trump, an existential threat to the entire Western World. We all have a responsibility to fight him.

Not anymore

Yes, in most of history in most of the world, there has been severe discrimination against LGBTQ people. Democrats began embracing equal treatment in the second Obama administration and, certainly, in the Biden administration. What do you want Democrats to do in the present to gain your support?

Thank you, Leah, for your ongoing clarity of thought.

I am grateful for her courage and integrity.

60 Minutes has fallen to Trump.
December 22, 2025 at 2:45 AM
OK, I agree on the first part. You're a bit harsh on the second part. I wish to see a Democratic party that attracts enough votes to defeat the Trump-Republicans in 2026 and 2028, if it is not already too late to save democracy. How do we get there?

David, Sorry for the delay in responding. I think I agree with everything that you said. Thank you.

I agree that bullying, bigotry, silencing, marginalizing, and dehumanizing are all bad. I guess "identity politics" means different things to different people. To me, it means judging people essentially by their race, gender, sexuality, etc. It tends to divide rather than unite.

Yglesias' point is that CRT is a political liability for Democrats. I don't think that is irrational, i.e., not a panic.
December 21, 2025 at 8:10 PM
I agree 100%!
December 21, 2025 at 7:51 PM
How about this? Irrational anxiety or fear related to ethical principles of right and wrong.
December 21, 2025 at 7:47 PM
Similar except that Rufo is a reactionary and Yglesias is a liberal. They have opposite viewpoints and objectives. With your "looks like a duck" logic, it is impossible to criticize CRT without being called a racist.

I read Victor's book, "On Critical Race Theory".
December 21, 2025 at 4:23 PM
You are an academic, so you are familiar with logic. That is called the "Association Fallacy". Also known as "Guilt by Association". That fallacy is the basis of your title, the photo, and your argument.
December 21, 2025 at 3:40 PM
"Moral panic"? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
December 21, 2025 at 3:24 PM
It is not about teaching about race. It is about adopting or not adopting Critical Race Theory as policy.
December 21, 2025 at 3:19 PM
That is not a picture of Yglesias.

The report probably reveals that the Democratic coalition is extremely fragile and can't handle the truth.
